And then COVID-19 Happened
Enough said. While so much of the world struggles to understand and adapt to this unprecedented
global healthcare event, the DHIO team continues to focus--albeit with many fewer public
engagements--on the ongoing issues that surround the design considerations and implementation of

Article Published: "Interoperability is Crucial to the Future of Healthcare"
DHIO Principal Rich Bloch has today published an article entitled "Interoperability is Crucial to the Future of Healthcare" to
the Lumedic healthcare
website, a
revenue cycle management (RCM) company developing patient-centric,
cost effective solutions using blockchain technologies.
In the article, Mr. Bloch identifies how healthcare interoperability, and the novel technologies
developed and implemented in support of open community interoperability standards, will drive the
future of exceptional patient-managed healthcare outcomes.

Paper Published in Oxford Academic's JAMIA Open
An academic paper has been announced for publication today, entitled "Use of Patient-Generated Health Data across Healthcare Settings: Implications
for Health Systems." Published in Oxford Academic's JAMIA Open, this paper focuses on the prevalence of chronic
conditions and how patient-generated healthcare data can serve to supplement the management of care,
drive "connected health," and improve patient outcomes.
This is the second research publication made in collaboration with DHIO's Rich Bloch, and a team of
professional healthcare researchers at the University of Washington, Department of Surgery.

Acamedic Paper Published on Patient Generated Healthcare (PGHD)
In collaboration with a team of professional healthcare researchers at the University of Washington,
Department of Surgery, Mr. Bloch, DHIO Principal, was today notified of the acceptance
for publication of their peer-reviewed paper.
The paper is entitled "mHealth and Patient Generated Health Data:
Stakeholder Perspectives on Opportunities and Barriers for Transforming Healthcare", and has
been published in the journal mHealth: A Journal for Research,
Validation, and Discussion of Mobile Technology, Digital Health, and Medicine. This paper,
identifying the barriers to integrating patient generated
health data (PGHD) into existing clinical health systems, is the result of a two-year research grant
from the Patient-Centered Outcomes
Research Institute (PCORI), won by the
team in 2017.

Linux Foundation/Hyperledger HC-SIG Interview
DHIO Principal Rich Bloch was interviewed about his role as chair of the
Hyperledger Foundation Healthcare Special Interest Group (HC-SIG), representing an
international membership of 1000+ healthcare and technology professionals united in advancing the
state of the healthcare industry through the implementation of enterprise-grade technology solutions

Today, DHIO Principal Rich Bloch was honored to deliver the keynote address at the 2019 Patient
Engagement at UW Medicine Workshop presented jointly by the
University of Washington,
Department of Medicine and the Health Services Platform Consortium (HSPC). Mr. Bloch spoke on his personal
experiences as a patient, and talked
on the topic of the balance between governmental/institutional policy and the advancement

Hyperledger Foundation Project Selected as Blockchain Platform Resource
After extended due diligence, the DHIO team has selected blockchain framework and tools resources
available through the
Linux Foundation's
Hyperledger Foundation
Project for
their
POC projects. The choice was predicated on a number of factors including codebase stability,
availability,
and velocity (rate of change). Significantly, Hyperledger Foundation frameworks and tools are all
open-source,
and
licensed under the very liberal
Apache 2.0
License.
